Organisational structure:  they have a massive in charge in greater Manchester fire service.  The fire service in greater Manchester wouldn’t be able to respond to the 52,000 emergencies each year without the help of our Support teams.

Overview of Greater Manchester organisational structure:

Control Centre Operators: the team that is respond for receiving the ‘999’ emergency calls. They are based in the fire service headquarters. They can be involved in small range of accidents like minor grass fires to major incidents and often involve in co-ordination within police and ambulance service.

Community Safety Team: this team is responsible of broadly speaking and looks at the ways how to make greater Manchester more safer place to live. They have four key areas of focus: Arson, Anti Social Behaviour, Safety in the Home, and Fire Risk Reduction.

Corporate Communications Team: responsible for promoting the work of the service through the local Medias such as radio, TV and newspaper, this team distributes messages and information to people within the organisation.

Finance: responsible for all of the financial costs such as: pay for the services employees, new equipment and extras.  Also provide general financial advice to department managers.

Human Resources (HR): the HR team is responsible for looking after the development of the service and all the staff that’s has been employed in the fire service.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT): throughout the service is provided with new technology which contains the phone system that is responsible for a ‘999’ emergency calls, to the radios our fire-fighters that they are using when they are attending an incident. This team responsibility is to look after the service.

Property Management: within 41 stations of a fire service, service headquarters, technical service centre and a major training and development centre the service has a substantial property portfolio to offer. The team is responsible to look well after you.

Transport and Technical Services: the team is responsible for looking after the fire engines and the rest of the fire service vehicles. The fire service has massive workshop in Leigh to repair all the vehicles, also to carry out a lot of their maintenance like testing the current and new vehicles. They are also in charge of designing new kind of vehicles like fire engines and equipment .
